Hubert is the CEO and shareholder of the share-tec GmbH, which holds the trademark rights of the wheego brand. He founded his own car rental business in 1987 and developed the company to a fleet size of more than 5,000 cars and vans. The Terstappen Autovermietung operated locations in all major German airports and became master licensee of Dollar Rent a Car and Thrifty Car Rental. After merging with Buchbinder in 2013 Hubert was Managing Director of the Buchbinder Group. Under his leadership Buchbinder became market leader in the leisure business and the van & trucks business in Germany and Austria operating a fleet of more than 30,000 vehicles in 165 locations.
Furthermore Hubert developed the Global Rent a Car franchise system and expanded the brand into 20 countries. Following the successful sale of the Buchbinder group to Europcar in 2017, he was in charge of the integration into the Europcar Mobility Group. In 2019 Hubert was appointed as Managing Director of the Europcar in Germany. He left Europcar in 2020 and founded VCC Ventures and the associated companies share-tec GmbH, mobi-tec GmbH and PARKsmart. Hubert is a key person in the German and international car rental industry.
