Hubert Terstappen

Founder & CEO

Hubert is Managing Director and shareholder of share-tec GmbH, which holds the trademark rights to the wheego brand. In 1987, he founded his own car rental company and grew the business to a fleet size of more than 5,000 cars and vans. Terstappen Car Rental operated locations at all major German airports and became a master licensee of Dollar Rent a Car and Thrifty Car Rental. After the merger with Buchbinder in 2013, Hubert was managing director of the Buchbinder Group. Under his leadership, Buchbinder became the market leader in the leisure, van and truck business in Germany and Austria with a fleet of more than 30,000 vehicles at 165 locations.

In addition, Hubert developed the Global Rent a Car franchise system and expanded the brand in 20 countries. After the successful sale of the Buchbinder Group to Europcar in 2017, he was responsible for the integration into the Europcar Mobility Group. In 2019, Hubert was appointed Managing Director of Europcar in Germany. He left Europcar in 2020 to found VCC Ventures and its associated companies share-tec GmbH, mobi-tec GmbH and PARKsmart. Hubert is a key player in the German and international car rental industry.
