What is special about wheego RENT?

In the field of mobility providers, there are many different car rental companies, leasing companies and car sharing providers. From these providers you can share, rent, subscribe, lease or buy a car.

wheego is different! We offer you the fairest and most transparent rental car product with no hidden additional costs.

Whether as a corporate customer, commercial customer or private customer - with wheego you are guaranteed to get a vehicle at a fair price. This ensures that every wheego customer receives the right offer for their individual rental car needs with transparent conditions and at a reasonable price.

What is the difference between wheego SHARE and wheego RENT?

If you use wheego RENT, you reserve your vehicle via our wheego-mobility.com website, by phone or directly in one of our wheego locations. Renting from wheego RENT is only possible within the opening times. You will receive the vehicle key from our wheego rental agents, who will also hand over your wheego car or van to you and explain it to you.

With wheego SHARE you do everything via the wheego APP. As soon as you have successfully registered, you can book and rent our wheego cars and vans around the clock, 365 days a year. You are completely independent of opening times and can easily open your booked wheego vehicle in the wheego app.

What is identical with wheego SHARE and wheego RENT?

Regardless of whether you use wheego SHARE or wheego RENT, you can rent our vehicles from 1 minute and up to 90 days. The available vehicle groups and optional extras are also identical. 

Which vehicle groups can I rent from wheego RENT?

At wheego RENT you can currently choose between 9 different vehicle groups and book the right vehicle for your needs:

e-Micro, economy, compact, middle class, station wagons, mini vans, small vans, vans and vans tarpaulin

We are constantly working on providing the right vehicle groups for your needs and will inform you promptly about innovations and new car and van groups such as mini vans, convertibles, electric vehicles, e-cars, hybrid vehicles and luxury vehicles. It's best to subscribe to our wheego newsletter so that you don't miss any news and always stay informed.

Does wheego RENT also offer vans?

Yes, we also have many vans in our fleet for you.

For smaller transports such as a washing machine, a dryer or a refrigerator we recommend our van group "mini van" and you will drive a Opel Combo or a Toyota Proace or similar.

And for slightly larger transports our van group “small van” is the best choice and you will get for example a Ford Transit Custom.

If you need much space then choose the group "van" and rent for example a Peugeot Boxer or the group "van tarpaulin" (Opel Movano tarpaulin 3,5 tons) which offers you beside space multiple loading opetions.

Whether you want to make larger purchases at Ikea or a hardware store and pack directly into the wheego transporter or if you need a moving truck - at wheego you are guaranteed to find a suitable transporter at an affordable price.

What is included with wheego RENT?

An inclusive KM (kilometer) package is already included in your rental price.  (30 inclusive KM per hour and up to 300 inclusive KM per day are included in your rental price)

Rentals of up to 119 minutes are billed to the minute plus the number of kilometers driven (no inclusive KM).

Compare the rental car offers of other car rental companies and rental car providers yourself - but be aware that you wheego price already includes valuable extras 

Also very important for you is that the wheego price is completely transparent and fair for you - in the end you won't experience any bad surprises.

Your wheego rental rate also includes a reduction in the excess. Depending on the vehicle, the deductible is € 800 (all groups of cars and micro cars) or € 1,200 (mini vans and small vans) or € 1,500 (vans and vans tarpaulin).

When comparing prices between wheego RENT and other rental companies, make sure that you are sometimes liable for the full value of the car and that some providers usually want to sell you expensive insurance options. A supposed bargain can quickly turn into a cost trap for you or, in extreme cases, in the event of damage without insurance cover, it can even threaten your financial existence.

Your wheego RENT offer also includes service, maintenance, vehicle taxes, insurance, GEZ, tires, statutory inspections such as general inspection / emissions inspection (AU / HU) and the loss of value due to normal use of the vehicle. This also includes all naturally occurring signs of use such as tire and brake wear as well as any necessary workshop appointments for tire and oil changes. If you should be involved in an accident with your wheego car, we will of course take care of handling the damage with the insurance company.

The “wheego Fleet Angels” always take care of the condition of the wheego fleet and ensure that your wheego car or your wheego van is supplied with sufficient oil, AdBlue, other operating materials and, of course, are seasonally equipped with winter suitable tires. This ensures that your wheego experience can always run to your full satisfaction, even on ice and snow.

Can I also rent wheego cars in other countries?

Yes, you can also rent your wheego car outside of Germany. wheego has franchise partners in many European countries and soon also worldwide.

Please note that individual rental conditions apply in each wheego rental country and that the services included in the price differ from those in Germany.

But no matter where you rent a car at wheego, service and transparency are our top priority. We have selected our franchise partners very carefully and also monitor compliance with our high service and quality standards.

How far in advance can I book a vehicle with wheego RENT?

With wheego RENT you can book a vehicle from a pre-booking time of one minute - i.e. almost immediately. The maximum advance booking time is 365 days.

How long is the minimum / maximum rental period?

You can rent a car or a van from wheego for as little as 1 minute and for a maximum of 90 days.

How many inclusive kilometers are included with wheego?

In the case of hourly rentals (from 2 hours to 10 hours), 30 KM per hour are already included in your rental price. For daily rentals up to 300 inclusive KM per rental day are included. The maximum allowed lenght of rental is 90 days. 

If you reserve a wheego vehicle for less than 2 hours, the minute rate applies to you. In this case wheego calculates the exact usage time to the minute plus the number of kilometers driven. Please note that the minute rate does not include any inclusive KM.

What are the costs for additional kilometers?

Depending on the wheego vehicle group, the price is between 0.20 € / km and 0.37 € / km including VAT. You can find detailed information on the additional kilometer price of your wheego RENT vehicle in the offer information and of course also transparently listed in your rental agreement.

Additional kilometers are billed at the end of the rental period at the additional kilometer prices agreed in the contract. If you drive less kilometers than included in your rate, the “remaining” inclusive kilometers cannot be reimbursed.

From what age can I rent a car from wheego?

You must be at least 21 years old and have had a valid driver's license for 2 years. For drivers under the age of 23, we charge a young driver fee of € 6 per day due to the increased risk.

At wheego there are no increased deductibles for young drivers such as rookie fees or similar.

Can I use wheego RENT with a non-German driver's license?

This is not a problem at all, if you have a valid EU driving license, you can use wheego RENT. You need to have your driving license for at least 2 years.

Are other drivers also allowed to use the rented wheego car?

You can add other drivers to your wheego rental agreement before the rental begins. Like you, they must be between 18 and 75 years old and have had a valid driver's license for at least 2 years. The fee for each additional driver is € 5 per rental day. In the case of minute or hourly rentals, the fee is only charged once. The registration of the additional driver is uncomplicated and takes place at the check-out in the wheego station. Unfortunately, unregistered drivers are not allowed to use the wheego vehicle for insurance reasons.

Can I change or cancel my wheego RENT booking?

You can cancel or rebook your wheego RENT reservation free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the rental period. Thereafter, a cancellation or rebooking is subject to a fee. Your wheego service team or the wheego rental agents in the wheego location will inform you in advance of any fees that may be incurred in the event of a rebooking or cancellation within 48 hours before the start of the booked rental period.

Will wheego take a deposit during my rental?

At wheego you can get a new or as good as new car. It is therefore necessary to reserve a deposit on your credit card during your rental period. It is also possible to pay cashless by debiting your EC / Maestro card or other accepted payment methods. The deposit is between € 250 and € 500, depending on the vehicle group and rental length. The deposit will usually be reimbursed no later than 48 hours after you have returned your wheego vehicle to the station free of damage.

Which documents do I need to rent a car from wheego?

Please bring your ID or passport with you, as well as your valid driver's license and a debit card or credit card issued to you.

Please note that you must have had your driver's license for at least 2 years - otherwise a young driver fee of € 6 per day applies.

Do I get a car with a full tank or battery when I start my rental?

Yes, we will always provide a car with a full tank or full battery to you when you start your journey.  Please note that you have to pay for refueling and charging by yourself. At the end of your rental you will have to return the car/van with a full tank and/or a full battery.

Can I extend my rental period while the rental is ongoing?

Usually it will be possible to change the booked return time during the rental period.

To do this, however, you must contact your wheego rental locations before the contractually agreed end of the rental period expires. wheego then checks whether an extension is possible or whether the vehicle is already planned for another wheego customer.

In which countries can I drive my wheego car?

The rental vehicle may only be used in the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain.

For using the wheego vehicle outside of Germany, we will charge you a one-time fee of € 19 per rental, as we will have increased costs for the vehicle return transport and repair in the event of damage or a breakdown.

Can I smoke in the wheego car?

Smoking is not permitted in the wheego cars.

Can I transport my pet in my wheego car?

In principle, you can transport your pet in your wheego car. But you have to make sure that the animal does not leave any dirt, hair or scratch marks.

Because you will pay for the special cleaning and removal of traces yourself.

For safety reasons, we recommend always using a transport box and placing it in the trunk.

We would like to point out that animals must be adequately secured during transport and that you must provide suitable security by means of a transport box, belt or partition and use them when driving.

How are additional kilometers billed at the end of the rental period?

Additional kilometers that go beyond the inclusive kilometers included in the rental rate will be billed at the end of the rental period at the additional kilometer prices agreed in the contract. If you drive less kilometers than included in your rate, the “remaining” inclusive kilometers cannot be reimbursed.

Depending on the wheego vehicle type, the price per additional kilometer is between 0.20 € / km and 0.37 € / km including VAT. You can find detailed information on the additional kilometer price of your wheego RENT vehicle in the offer information and on your rental agreement.

What damage will be billed at the end of my rental?

Signs of use such as small scratches on door handles or in the interior are included in your wheego rental rate. Naturally occurring signs of use such as tire and brake wear are also included. At the end of the rental period, you will be charged for scratches that need to be painted, dents that need to be squeezed out or stone chips that need to be repaired. The agreed deductible plus a damage processing fee will be the maximum for each damage calculated.

Which hidden costs must I expect when returning the vehicle?

We want our wheego products to be fair and transparent for you. That is why it is very important for us that you know all the costs that may arise.

Your rental rate already includes 30 inclusive KM per hour and up to 300 inclusive KM per day. For every additional kilometer exceeding your booked inclusive-kilometer package, you have to pay the agreed cost of the additional kilometers. Booked minute rentals up to a rental length of 119 minutes do not contain any included kilometers, but are billed entirely according to minutes and kilometers driven.

In order to avoid that the next wheego customer needs to fill up / charge the vehicle directly at the beginning of the rental, it is necessary that you return your wheego RENT vehicle with a full tank and/or battery.

Please note that you do have to pay yourself for the fuel you fill up and/or the electricity you charge.

The CDW insurance costs € 2.90 per hour or a maximum of € 11.90 per day. For longer rental periods, the daily price of the insurance is reduced up to € 3 (cars and micro cars) or € 3.50 (all van categories). If you only want to rent your wheego car by the minute, the price for CDW insurance is only € 0.06 per minute.

The SuperCDW option (available for all car groups and micro car groups) costs 4,50€ per hour or a maximum of € 17,90 per day. For longer rental periods, the daily price of the insurance is reduced up to € 4,50€.

How are wheego vehicles insured?

All wheego vehicles are fully comprehensively insured. The deductible in the event of a claim is up to € 800 per claim for e-Micro, economy, compact, station wagon and medium-sized vehicles, up to € 1,200 per claim for vehicles in the mini and small van categories and up to € 1,500 per claim for vehicles in the van and van tarpaulin categories.

You have the option of reducing your excess by booking a CDW (“collision damage waiver”) insurance to € 300 (all car and micro car groups) or € 500 (all van groups). Alternatively for all micro car groups and all car groups you have the option of reducing your excess to 0€ by booking a SuperCDW. Both the the CDW option and the SuperCDW option can be booked on the wheego website as well as in the wheego rental locations before the start of your rental. What do I do in the event of an accident or damage?

The wheego damage management hotline is available to you around the clock, 24/7. If you have an accident, you are obliged to inform wheego RENT immediately. We will provide the phone number of the wheego damage management hotline to you before handing over your wheego vehicle. In the event of an accident or damage, please always inform the police - regardless of whether third parties are involved or not. If the police refuse to report the damage or accident, you must request written confirmation of this from the police and hand this document over to wheego when you return the vehicle. This is the only way to ensure that the fully comprehensive insurance takes effect and that you are only liable within the scope of the contractually agreed excess amount.

What is the procedure in the event of damage?

You can also fully rely on wheego in the event of damage. Our own damage management team is available to you around the clock, supports you and helps you to organize the next steps.

You will receive the phone number of the damage management hotline from us when you rent the car. In the event of an accident, please always call the police to properly clarify the question of guilt.

Depending on the case of damage (accident or guarantee), a check will be carried out to determine whether or not a deductible is required from you. What does the liability insurance of my wheego RENT vehicle cover?

Motor vehicle liability insurance covers damage that you, as a driver, inflict on other people, their property or assets.

What does the fully comprehensive insurance of my wheego RENT vehicle cover?

The fully comprehensive insurance also includes the services of a partially comprehensive insurance. This means that you are insured for damage through no fault of your own, e.g. if your car is stolen or in the event of storm damage or lightning strikes. In addition, you are insured against damage and accidents you caused yourself. A deductible is required for each comprehensive insurance.

What is not covered by the fully comprehensive insurance?

Fully comprehensive insurance does not cover damage caused by loss of keys, fuel cards or documents (e.g. the vehicle registration document). In addition, the fully comprehensive insurance does not include flat tires. The wheego vehicles are equipped with spare tires or TireKits for this purpose.

How does the deductible work at wheego?

If you have an accident or damage you caused yourself, this is covered by the fully comprehensive insurance. A deductible will then be charged for each incident plus a damage processing fee. The amount of the deductible depends on the booked wheego vehicle group.

What happens if I get a parking ticket or a speeding ticket?

If you have been driving too fast or receive a ticket for any other reason, we will receive an information and will forward the relevant data to the authorities. We will charge you a processing fee for this effort.

How do I proceed as a business customer if I want to use wheego RENT?

If you only want to rent a single wheego vehicle, then book as normal via our website. If you need several vehicles or individual mobility solutions, please contact us by email to business@wheego-mobility.com

Can wheego RENT vehicles also be used as pool vehicles?

For our commercial and corporate customers we offer multiple flexible solutions that meet your mobility needs. As our wheego cars and vans are fully connected they can also be used as pool vehicles, sharing the same car/fleet with several employees of your company. Please contact your wheego service team to get more detailed information on this.

What tax advantages does a wheego RENT electric vehicle offer?

The private use of electric company cars up to a gross list price of € 60,000 is taxed as a pecuniary benefit to promote electromobility with a lower percentage of only 0.25% of the gross list price. For plug-in hybrid vehicles that have a minimum range in electric mode of at least 40 km and a maximum gross list price of € 60,000, the taxation is reduced from normally 1% to only 0.5% of the gross list price.

Are there also wheego offers for business customers for long term rentals?

If you as a corporate customer need mobility for a longer period of time, we offer you as an alternative to wheego RENT and wheego SHARE with our wheego Subscription model (from a rental duration of 3 months) and with the Super-Flex long-term offers (long-term rentals starting from 28 days) suitable and cheap products. Here you can rent a car or van cheaply as a subscription or as a long-term rental - as flexible as you want and at a low price for your car subscription or long-term rental. It doesn't matter whether you need a small car, a larger vehicle, several cars, multi-seaters, buses or vans or a pool vehicle solution for your company.
